Temporã
Project type
Illustration
Date
Oct, 2024
This illustration was created for a university assignment where we were asked to represent ourselves through image and text.
Titled Temporã, it draws from a Brazilian word used for something that grows out of season — a quiet metaphor for blooming in your own time. As the youngest sibling by many years, I’ve often felt out of sync, growing alongside others who were already ahead.
In the illustration, a girl waters herself like a plant — an attempt to grow faster, to catch up. Above her, a bem-te-vi, a bird from my home state known for fighting its own reflection, echoes that internal struggle.
"Temporã, nature’s rebel, defies time by blooming out of season."
This piece is about self-growth, impatience, and learning to embrace your own rhythm — even when it feels out of place.
